It didn't happen for #England today.
Of course it's a shame, I think it would have been a stroke of brilliant irony to win the Euro's the same year as Brexit..

Saying that, I'm glad that England got to the finals. There is an odd feeling of entitlement that I think comes with being British - at least in my experience. In that it's taken for granted when things go well.

But with this tournament I think most people were so chuffed for the England team to go as far as they did.

It wasn't a win this time, but let's not forget to keep celebrating in all things.

Because that vibe is just too good.

It's been a while since I've posted on this account. Things are opening up and with that I feel like I've been busier than ever.

Over the past year I felt like I could get away without actually planning, or maybe I just didn't realise how automatically I used to juggle things before lockdown.

There's a pervasive pressure to be excited for lockdown to end completely - but it doesn't mean everything has to return to how it was. It's allowed to change.

I'm trying to take time and not rush into 'normal'; or maybe it's better to say I'm trying to find my own normal.

Today I've been completely engrossed by images of

Today I've been completely engrossed by images of #LiminalSpaces

It's an aesthetic that focuses on transient spaces, or more accurately, the eerie nostalgicness of these spaces.

A lot of the images almost fit a vapourwave vibe, but the most interesting ones are the mundane everyday places that punctuate existence. The almost memory of sitting by the window in an empty train carriage, waiting at the bus stop in the rain, an empty office, car park or school.

You get the picture.

These memories of quiet times when we are by ourselves give an almost #nostalgic or #saudades feeling.

I most recently recall that feeling from a Boxing Day almost 10 years ago. I went to buy an unwanted Christmas present in the form of a camera off of Gumtree. I rode my moped across North London. It was a snowy morning, and it was quiet - so quiet, then the lights turned green and I rode off away from that silence.

There are probably a few reasons for why I don't feel it more often, but I think it's heavily down to my use of my phone. For years now I have been reliant on my phone to occupy that space *between* places. After all, it's a non-space, right?

When I'm by myself and there is ~nothing~ to do, it makes sense to fill that space. But there is a value to those time, that isn't always obvious.

It's a space to reflect, but also to observe. To see the world and space you move in and process it. Transient spaces are certainty not the full picture of life, but they definitely frame it. I need to start remembering that.

It's one of the nice things about the city that you are no more than 5 minutes away from somewhere completely different.

Yeah, Camden Town has it's insanity, but only around the corner you are surrounded by some of the most expensive houses in the country, whilst you are on your way to play football across the road or something.

Seriously though, I was passing through the area, and it's mad how busy the area is. It's been like this for a couple of weeks now with noise going into the early hours apparently. What's going on Britain, you wonder why we're leading Europe with COVID infections.
